Borrowed from Japanese キャッチャ (kyatcha), itself borrowed from English catcher, agentive of catch, from Middle English cacchen, from Anglo-Norman cachier, from Late Latin captiāre, present active infinitive of captiō, from Latin captō, frequentative of capiō. Doublet of kiaaj and kiaj.
