Etymology edit

From Russian кегля (keglja), from German Kegel (skittle, bowling pin), ultimately from Proto-West Germanic *kagil (stake, pin, pike, peg). Compare Polish kręgiel, Dutch kegel, French quille, Swedish kägel, English kayles (obsolete).
