From kenna (to teach) +‎ -ari (suffix used to create agent nouns from verbs).

Usage notes edit

  • Like most occupational terms, kennari, although grammatically masculine, may be used for either sex. The term kennslukona (literally “teaching woman”) may also be used to refer to a female teacher specifically.
