ligj
Albanian edit
Etymology edit
Singularized plural of earlier *leg, *lig. Either borrowed through Vulgar Latin from Latin lēx, lēgem (“law”) (compare Romanian lege), from Proto-Indo-European *leǵ- (“to collect, to speak”), or from the same root of Lithuanian lygùs (“equal”) and Old Prussian līgan (“court”), as substantiated by ligje (“mourning, dirge”).
Noun edit
ligj m (plural ligje, definite ligji, definite plural ligjet)
