Usage notes edit

Még mindig can express annoyance over some situation that still persists, despite one's expectation. The following sentences can all be translated as “Is Steve still here?”, with different implications. Compare:

Pista itt van még? or Itt van még Pista? ― I hope he's still here or I'm neutral about it.

Pista még itt van? ― Either expectation is possible, whether for him to have left or to be still here.

Pista még mindig itt van? ― He should have left long ago.
