A plural form of melodrama formed on the pattern of dramata; representing a supposed Ancient Greek etymon of the form *μελοδράματα (melodrāmata), from the extant roots μέλος (melos) and δράματα (drāmata; the nominative plural form of δρᾶμα, drāma).
