Etymology edit

From Old Albanian miize, enlarged with -zë, from Proto-Albanian *mūjā, from Proto-Indo-European *muH- (compare English midge), variant of *mus- (compare Ancient Greek μυῖᾰ (muîa), Serbo-Croatian muva). A comparison with Old High German mīza (gnat), Old English mite (mite), Latin minor (small) is also possible.
