  2. A tool or device used to mount.
  3. (slang, obsolete) A person hired to swear to something that is false.
    • 1816, Means of improving the condition of the poor, Thomas Williams, page 31:
      [] perjury reaches the most awful height. I have heard of mounters, who attend Westminster Hall and other courts, to swear to any thing that may be required of them, for a trifling fee.
