Black-footed Albatrosses (Phoebastria nigripes) and Laysan Albatrosses (Phoebastria immutabilis) [...] appear to be particularly vulnerable to plastic ingestion. This is likely due to their feeding strategy, selecting floating items from the ocean surface. In the time before the abundance of plastics, these items would have been dominated by organic matter and neustonic (floating) organisms.
