niner
English edit
Etymology edit
Pronunciation edit
Noun edit
niner (plural niners)
- (informal) Something nine inches long. (Can we add an example for this sense?)
- (in the singular) The digit 9 in the NATO phonetic alphabet.
Usage notes edit
In the NATO phonetic alphabet, the two-syllable pronunciation avoids confusion with five and nein. The spelling, however, remains nine.[2]
