  1. (slang, basketball) A basketball player who plays college basketball for a single year and then declares for the NBA draft.
    John Calipari's Kentucky squad was made up of one-and-done players.
  2. (US, informal, sports) The act of a team making the postseason playoffs but losing the very first game played in it.
  3. A family in which the parents decide to have only one child.
