Etymology edit

Borrowed from Latin oratio, possibly through Polish intermediate oracja (first appears 18th century). Compare Aromanian urãciuni, which is probably inherited (see also the now rare Romanian urăciune, which may be from the same source or may also be an internal derivation from ura).

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): /oˈrat͡si.e/
  • Rhymes: -at͡sie
  • Hyphenation: o‧ra‧ți‧e

Noun edit

orație f (plural orații)

  1. epithalamium, nuptial poem
  2. (archaic) oration
    Synonyms: discurs, cuvântare
