    • c. 77 CE – 79 CE, Pliny the Elder, Naturalis Historia 33.11.77:
      palagas alii palacurnas iidem quod minutum est balucem vocant
      The names given to these lumps are "palagae," and "palacurnae," while the gold found in small grains is known as "baluce."
