  1. (law) The act of misrepresenting a counterfeit product as the genuine article.
    • 1917, Harry Dwight Nims, The Law of Unfair Competition and Trade-Marks, page 27:
      It is sufficient that the complainant is entitled to the custom—the good-will—of a business and that this good-will is injured or is about to be injured, by the palming off of the goods of another as his.
