Etymology edit
From Latin parallēlepipedum, from Ancient Greek παραλληλεπίπεδος (parallēlepípedos). While the spelling parallelepipedum does more justice to the etymology (as the word is essentially a compound of parallel and *epipedum) and is occasionally encountered, the unetymological reinterpretation parallellepipedum (as if from parallelle + *pipedum) is overwhelmingly more common. This etymology is incomplete. You can help Wiktionary by elaborating on the origins of this term. further explanation perhaps of the spellings causing and reflecting mistaken pronunciations stemming from a lack of understanding of morpheme/syllable boundaries
