posterior malleolus
English edit
Noun edit
posterior malleolus (plural posterior malleoli)
- (anatomy) The distal posterior aspect of the tibia at the ankle.
- Synonym: (colloquially) posterior mal
Usage notes edit
This is a misnomer, since it is not a true malleolus (bony prominence on each side of the ankle). Also implied in the term trimalleolar.
