    (file)
  • Rhymes: -unti
  • Hyphenation: prun‧ti

Verb edit

prunti (present pruntas, past pruntis, future pruntos, conditional pruntus, volitive pruntu)

  1. to borrow
    prunti de — borrow from
  2. to lend
    prunti al — lend to

Usage notes edit

Borrowing and lending can be distinguished with use of the prepositions de (from) and al (to), but it is also about as common to distinguish borrowing and lending with the compound verbs pruntepreni (literally to borrow-take) and pruntedoni (literally to lend-give) respectively. The verbs alprunti and deprunti also exist for lend and borrow respectively, but they are much less commonly used.
