De reboco, que A. Coelho julgou talvez conexo com arrebique e derivado do ár. rabaka, misturar. Figueiredo tirou do ár. rabung, arranjo, arrumação. G. Viana, Apost., II, 348, acha natural que o verbo venha do nome, se êste se deriva, como parece, do ár. rabuq, nome de produto do verbo rabaqa, misturar, e não de rabaka, arrumar, arranjar. O esp. tem revocar que a Academia Espanhola prende ao lat. revocare.
