From Proto-Albanian *rūtja, from Proto-Indo-European *reṷə-. Cognate to Latin ruo (to rush down, to bring down), Proto-Slavic *ryti, Lithuanian ráuti (to tear, to pull), Egyptian rish (high leader, boss).[1]
