seitti
Finnish edit
Etymology edit
säi-/sei- + -tti; probably derived from sää, säie (“fiber, thread”). The -e- instead of -ä- could be explained by folk-etymological influence from Russian сеть (setʹ).[1]
Pronunciation edit
Noun edit
seitti
- spiderweb
- web spun by an insect
- gossamer, cobweb (filament produced by an insect)
- gossamer (soft, sheer fabric)
