    • 1861 August 10, The Glasgow Herald, number 6733, page 2:
      A housekeeper was also forthcoming, who appears to have been picked up by the Colonel on Rutherglen Bridge under the most romantic circumstances, for she was then engaged fetching two stoupsful of water from the fountain to modify the strength of her father’s Highland whisky.
