suicide watch (countable and uncountable, plural suicide watches)

  1. A period of monitoring of someone, especially a prisoner deemed likely to commit suicide, to ensure they do not attempt suicide.
    • 2021 March 10, Paul Bigland, “They can leave their problems at the gate”, in RAIL, number 926, page 60:
      Previously, Bob had mentioned that they had 14 clients on 'suicide watch' (where volunteers make regular contact with the men involved).
