Turkish edit

Etymology edit

From Ottoman Turkish توكنمك (tükenmek, to come to an end, to be totally consumed), from Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (düken-), reflexive of Proto-Turkic *tüke- (to come to an end).[1] Related to Proto-Mongolic *tögüs- (to come to an end), hence Mongolian төгсөх (tögsöx, to come to an end), perhaps from language contact.[2]

Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (tüke-, to come to an end), Azerbaijani tükənmək (to end), Kyrgyz түгөнүү (tügönüü), Southern Altai тӱгенер (tügener), Turkmen tükenmek (to be finished), Uzbek tugamoq (to end).
