Particularly: “Although the rime matches well with Proto-Tai *prakᴰ, the onset makes it almost impossible to connect the two. There are Tai lects where the labial feature of the onset disappeared (see Johnson (2011)'s paper on the Tai languages of Wenshan), but I doubt Muong was in contact with those such lects. Từ điển Tày-Nùng-Việt (2006), which ought to be used with caution as it's not based on any single lect, records phjăc.”
