taperstick (plural tapersticks)

  1. A miniature candlestick.
    • 1960, E. M. Elville, English tableglass, page 125:
It would appear that candlesticks and their smaller accessories, tapersticks, did not come within the scope of the glass-maker until shortly after Ravenscroft's discovery of glass-of-lead, and it is probable that the baluster type stem, and its heavy, solid knopping, suggested a convenient stem, both for holding and to give the candlestick stability.
