Vietnamese edit

Etymology edit

thây (corpse) +‎ ma (ghost).

Attested already in Dictionarium Annamiticum Lusitanum et Latinum (1651), although apparently then meant merely "corpse" or "the dead"; later adopted to the concept of "zombie".
