     From this current context, it can be difficult to realize that we are only a few short years removed from a time when philosophy was almost entirely focused on vision and visual experience. This visuocentrism was not unique to philosophy of course. Even in empirical work, there was an overwhelming focus on vision at the expense of the other modalities.
