Etymology

edit

From Proto-Albanian *wāgla, from Proto-Indo-European *Hou-go-, compare Latin vagus (roaming, wandering) and Norwegian våk (child). Related to vogërr.[1] According to Krzysztof Tomasz Witczak, it is the source of Doric Greek βάδιος (bádios, child).[2] According to Matasović, the etymology vogël is controversial and has no accepted source or substrate.[3]
