Interjection edit

yeah, no

  1. (emphatic, colloquial, especially Australia, New Zealand and California) Used sarcastically to answer "no" to a question where the negative answer should have been obvious.
  2. (colloquial, chiefly Upper Midwestern US) A softened negative response to a question or statement that seems plausible but is not factual.
"Look at those clouds; it might rain." "Yeah, no, the weatherman says it won't rain until at least next week."
  3. an agreement; the “yeah” functions as affirmation, while the “no” could be replaced by the phrase “don’t worry.”
