Inherited from Proto-Slavic *ľudьskъ. By surface analysis, люд (ljud, people, folk) +‎ -ський (-sʹkyj). Compare Polish ludzki, Belarusian людскі́ (ljudskí), Russian людско́й (ljudskój).
