From س ب ع (s-b-ʕ); compare سَبْعَة (sabʕa), seven. Compare with Hebrew שבוע (šavúaʿ, “week”) derived from Hebrew שבע (šévaʿ, “seven”) and Classical Syriac ܫܒܘܥܐ (šaḇoʿā, “week”) derived from Classical Syriac ܫܒܥܐ (šaḇʿāʾ, “seven”).
