Etymology edit

Via Aramaic, which is in Jewish Babylonian Aramaic פְּלִיזָא (pəlizzā) and Classical Syriac ܦܠܸܙܵܐ (pəlezzā) and Palmyrene Aramaic 𐡱𐡫𐡦𐡠 (plzʾ) all meaning brass or bronze.
