Etymology edit

From నిల్చు (nilcu, Derived from Proto-Dravidian *nil) +‎ -ఎన (-ena​, tool marker). On the other hand, could be from Prakrit णिस्सेणि (ṇisseṇi), from Sanskrit निःश्रेणि (niḥśreṇi), from निश्रेणी (niśreṇī), from the root निश्रि (niśri, to lean on or against).
