Inherited from Early Assamese লাগি (lagi). Cognate with Bengali লাগিয়া (lagiẏa), Sylheti ꠟꠣꠉꠤ (lagi), Maithili 𑒪𑒰𑒑𑒪 (lāgala), Nepali लाई (lāī), लागि (lāgi), Hindi लिए (lie).
