From justo. Some of the medieval Old Spanish senses (compare Ladino ajustar (“to add”)) seem to correspond better to Vulgar Latin *adiuxtāre or *iuxtāre, from Latin iuxta (compare French ajouter (“to add”));[1] compare ayustar.
