From *etës (compare dialectal ecëj), from Proto-Albanian *aitatja, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁éyti, present of *h₁ey-. Perhaps the laryngeal is preserved. Compare Serbo-Croatian ìći, Lithuanian eĩti. See eci.
