Etymology edit

From Middle English outseken, equivalent to out- +‎ seek. Cognate with Saterland Frisian uutsäike, West Frisian útsykje (to seek out), Dutch uitzoeken (to pick, sort out, investigate), German Low German utsöken, German aussuchen (to choose, select, pick out).
