editBorrowed from Classical Persian فرمان (farmān), from Middle Persian plmʾn' (framān), from Old Persian 𐎳𐎼𐎶𐎠𐎴𐎠 (framānā), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *pramaHnam. Doublet of प्रमाण (pramāṇ). Compare Punjabi ਫ਼ਰਮਾਨ (farmān) / فَرمان (farmān), Gujarati ફરમાન (pharmān), Bengali ফরমান (phoroman), Marathi फर्मान (pharmān), Kannada ಫರ್ಮಾನು (pharmānu).
