Inherited from Byzantine Greek ἀράζω (arázō) form the Ancient Greek ἀράσσω (arássō) from past tense: ‑αξα to present: ‑άζω, in the pattern of στάζω (stázō), ἔσταξα (éstaxa, “I dripped”).
