הלך לעולמו

Hebrew edit

Etymology edit

From הָלַךְ (halách, went) + לְ־ (l'-, to) + עוֹלָמוֹ (olamó, his world); hence literally “went to his world”.

Verb edit

הָלַךְ לְעוֹלָמוֹ (halách l'olamó) third-singular masculine past (pa'al construction)

  1. (He/it) died, passed away.

Conjugation edit

See conjugation at הָלַךְ (halách, went). The second word, לְעוֹלָמוֹ, ends with a suffix that varies according to the person spoken of. Thus, for example, הָלְכָה לְעוֹלָמָהּ (hal'cha l'olamáh, (she/it) died).
