  • Hebrew has two words corresponding to English stop: הפסיק and עָצַר (atsár). The latter pertains to motion; more explicitly, it means “(intransitive) To stop moving” or “(transitive) To stop the motion of”. The former pertains to other actions or events; more explicitly, it means “(transitive) To cease, desist, terminate.”
