ArabicEdit

EtymologyEdit

Borrowed from Aramaic כִּזְרָא(bizrā) /‎ ܙܪܥܐ(bazrā, seed), from בַר זַרְעָא‎ /‎ ܒܪ ܙܪܥܐ(bar zarʿāʾ, seed), from בַר‎ /‎ ܒܪ(bar, son of) + זַרְעָא‎ /‎ ܙܪܥܐ(zarʿāʾ, a seed).
The vocalization with /i/ is deemed more classical in Arabic.
