Compare جَزَى (jazā, to repay). Or borrowed from Middle Persian 𐭢𐭦𐭩𐭲𐭪𐭩 (gzytky /⁠gazīdag⁠/), 𐭢𐭦𐭩𐭲 (gzyt /⁠gazīd⁠/, poll tax), at least semantic loan from Middle Persian.
