سانسکریت
Persian edit
Etymology edit
Ultimately from Sanskrit संस्कृत (saṃskṛta), likely from French sanskrit or another European language, given that the initial long vowel matches European pronunciations better than Indian ones. Compare سنسکریت (sanskerit), سَهاسْکِرْت (sahâskert), both attested in Mughal-era sources.
Pronunciation edit
- (Iran, formal) IPA(key): [sɒːns.kʰʲe.ɹiːt̪]
