Ottoman Turkish edit

Etymology edit

Possibly from Proto-Turkic *kïr- (to break) + the suffix which is in Old Turkic [script needed] (-maç). The phonetic alteration could have been in imitation of a cracking whip.[1] In Azerbaijani qırmanc, qırmac.
