Borrowed from Arabic كِبْرِيت (kibrīt, sulfur), from Aramaic כִּבְּרִיתָא (kiḇrīṯā), itself from Akkadian 𒆠𒀀𒀭𒀀𒇉 (kibrītu, sulfur, firebrand).
