Borrowed from Classical Syriac, from Biblical Hebrew סַרְגוֹן (sargón), from Akkadian 𒈗𒁺 (Šarrum-kīn, literally the king is legitimate); compare Arabic سَرْجُون (sarjūn). Doublet of ܫܲܪܘܼܟܝܼܢ (šarūkīn).
