Etymology edit

Inherited from Sanskrit थरथराय (tharatharāya, root). Ultimately, a reduplication. Compare Punjabi ਥਰਥਰਾਉਣਾ (thartharāuṇā) / تھرتھراؤݨا (thrthrā'oṇā), Gujarati થરથરવું (thartharvũ), Marathi थरथरणे (thartharṇe).
