Etymology edit

Inherited from Old Marathi थुंकणे (thuṃkaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀣𑀼𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀇 (thukkaï), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀣𑀼𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀢𑀺 (*thukkati). Cognate with Gujarati થૂંકવું (thū̃kvũ), Hindi थूकना (thūknā), Nepali थुक्नु (thuknu), Odia ଥୁକିବା (thukiba), Punjabi ਥੁੱਕਣਾ (thukkaṇā), Rajasthani थूकणौ, Sindhi ٿُڪَڻُ / थुकणु (thukaṇu).
