Borrowed from Classical Persian وعده (wa'da), from Arabic وَعْدَة (waʕda). Compare Bengali ওয়াদা (ōẇada), Gujarati વાયદો (vāyado), Marathi वायदा (vāydā),Punjabi ਵਾਅਦਾ (vāadā), ਵਾਇਦਾ (vāidā).
